Drawing on the wisdom gleaned during decades spent helping Christians understand the Bible, Clifford Yeary explores the divine mystery at work in the mysteries of Scripture remembered in the Rosary. Each of the twenty chapters clearly shows how biblical scholarship can nurture the faith of those who read, pray, teach or preach these mysteries. This is a short book that merits long pondering.

Here's an author who probes the rosary's mysteries with all the thoughtfulness they deserve! Clifford Yeary explores each mystery as a biblically grounded event, reverberating with echoes of past Scriptures and present implications. He gives acute attention to details that provide each miniature portrait of grace with new breadth. Is the rosary relevant for the 21st century user? Yeary's reflections help make the case.
Alice Camille is the author of The Rosary: Mysteries of Joy, Light, Sorrow, and Glory
We know that the rosary is more than a series of repeated prayers; this cherished prayer is a deep and continuous Scriptural reflection on the lives of Jesus and Mary. Clifford M. Yeary brings that vibrantly alive for us in this meditative book. Yeary helps us to prayerfully explore the various Scripture passages that recount, or touch on, the mysteries-the Joyful Mysteries, the Mysteries of Light, the Sorrowful Mysteries, and the Glorious Mysteries. Through this reflective book, which will be a constant companion in our prayer, we discover that we, too, are part of the mysteries. We don't just learn about the particulars of the events, but we encounter our loving God in Christ, we encounter Mary, our role model of responding to and living the word of God.

The biblical scenes underlying the twenty mysteries of the Rosary are newly illuminated in this commentary. Clifford Yeary demonstrates again his ability to communicate solid biblical scholarship with a reverent touch. Those already devoted to the Rosary as well as newcomers will be enriched and find new encouragement to pray with and like Mary, who reflected on these things in her heart.

The clarity of Yeary's prose may disguise the profundity of his insights. His explanations of the four sets of mysteries of the rosary give the reader new understanding and lead to deeper meditation in praying this age-old prayer. His description and analysis of the Mysteries of Light, perhaps less well known, are a welcome gift to us all. This book is both inspiring and informative. I will use it with gratitude.

This is a beautifully composed and presented book on the biblical context of each of the four sets of the mysteries of the Rosary. Here is solid spiritual reading that will enhance the meaning of the rosary as a treasure of Catholic piety.
