The recent emphasis placed on the study of narrative has found its way into theological studies. Essentially, this volume is an exploration of narrative and of the significant fact that the Jewish and Christian communities have continued over the centuries to tell stories that they reverence as the Word of God.

Carmel McCarthy, RSM (1943-2022) lectured in Scripture at Carysfort College of Education, Dublin and in the Department of Semitic Languages at University College, Dublin. She was on the board for Scripture in Church, and held a doctorate from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. She has published a detailed study of the Tiqqune Sopherim (Scribal Emendations) to the Masoretic Text of the Old Testament.

William Riley studied biblical theology at the Angelicum University in Rome. He lectured in Scripture at the Master Dei Institute of Education, Dublin. He is the author of The Bible Study Group: An Owner's Manual and The Tale of Two Testaments.
